Know of any kids or teens that want to have a go at motocross on either 2 or 4 wheels? Then Wanneroo Junior Motorcycle Club is the place for them to be this month
Motorcycling WA is supplying free one-day licences for youngsters aged four to 19 who have not received one before for the club’s come and try day on February 18th.
If riders have received a licence before, they can buy a $30 one-event recreation licence.
The event aims to allow juniors to try motocross in a safe environment, with kids placed into age and bike size groups.
“They usually get four races, which go for about 10 minutes each and the other time they watch the other riders and get their bikes ready for the next race,” secretary Kelly Squires said.
The club will then host a Go Moto day on February 25th where club members can also take part.
Both events are open to riders who turned age four before January 1 or were 18 or under on January 1 and cost $20 each.
Non-competitive riders for the Go Moto must hold a mini or recreation licence or can again buy a one-event licence.
All riders must wear correct motocross boots and approved helmet, chest guard, gloves and goggles and have a parent or guardian present at all times.
The "Come and Try" day opens at 7am with riding from 9am, while the Go Moto opens at 6am with a rider briefing from 7.45am.
